The roots of the reputable Zegal Shomal brand date back to 1963, when it began as a small workshop in Tehran’s bazaar to produce school and office notebooks. With a forward-thinking and purposeful approach, the company gradually moved into large-scale importation of stationery from renowned countries such as Spain, Japan, and South Korea, quickly becoming one of the leading suppliers of stationery in the country.

The Start of a New Era – Official Establishment of Zegal Shomal Company

In 1991, Zegal Shomal Co. (Private Joint Stock) was established with a modern structure and entered industrial production. The company, by setting up factories and specialized workshops in Rasht and Kish Island, began large-scale production of various pencils, erasers, pastels, rulers, set squares, and other basic stationery items.

Since 1990, Zegal Shomal has obtained the license for the international Factis brand from Spain and begun manufacturing educational, artistic, and creative products, including pencils, colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, geometric tools, and notebooks, at world-class quality in Iran.

Intelligent Integration – Quantitative and Qualitative Expansion

In 2007, with the acquisition of the Staedtler Iran factory and its addition to its subsidiaries, Zegal Shomal took a significant step in expanding its production and product diversity. By utilizing modern European technology in pencil and eraser manufacturing, the company became one of the largest stationery manufacturers in Iran.

Zegal Shomal, by implementing a quality management system and obtaining the international ISO 9001 certificate from DNV Norway, demonstrated its commitment to quality and efficiency.

Today, Zegal Shomal, with over 300 skilled and experienced specialists, manufactures a variety of stationery products, including pencils, colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, pens, etc., for prestigious international brands.
