The history of Zegal Shomal Company (Private Joint-Stock) goes back to a small workshop in Tehran’s bazaar in 1963, which was initially established to produce school and office notebooks. Over time, alongside production, the company also began to import stationery products in bulk from countries like Spain, Japan, and South Korea, becoming a major hub for stationery imports. However, Zegal has always remained steadfast in its original mission of local production and expanding the stationery industry.
In this regard, in 1991, the "Zegal Shomal Company" was fundamentally established, setting up a range of factories and workshops for producing pencils, erasers, pastels, rulers, set squares, and more in Rasht and Kish Island. Since 1990, Zegal has been producing stationery, educational, artistic, and creative products under the "Factis" brand in Iran, under the license of Factis Spain, including items such as various pencils, colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, geometry tools, notebooks, and accessories. In 2007, Zegal Shomal Company expanded its product range by purchasing the Staedtler factory in Iran and incorporating it into its existing factories, enhancing both the quantity and quality of its products. By utilizing modern European technology in pencil and eraser production, Zegal became the largest producer of stationery in Iran and, through successful quality management, achieved the ISO 9001 certification from the "DNV" institute of Norway.
Currently, Zegal Shomal Company, with over three hundred experienced personnel, produces various types of stationery (pencils, colored pencils, erasers, sharpeners, pens, etc.) on behalf of renowned global brands. Along with "Marco Dacs" of Spain, it is the only producer of Factis products worldwide. In addition to "Factis," this company is the exclusive producer and importer of brands like "Deli," "Wipass," "Alborz," "Dono," "Ritec," and several other companies in Iran.
All Zegal products are certified with the European Union safety certificates (EN 71-1, 2, 3), the European Union product certificate (CE), and the National Iranian Standard. Zegal’s long-standing presence in the Iranian market reflects the positive perception of both sellers and consumers, rooted in fond school memories and the "good feeling of childhood."
