Composite Portland Cement

Main Information

Description

Composite Portland cement is a type of hydraulic cement that becomes strong and solid through hydration reactions when combined with water. This cement is produced from a combination of hydraulic lime and clay, playing a very important role in the construction industry.

Product Technical Description

Precautions for Using Composite Portland Cement

In cold weather conditions and environments where there is a risk of freezing, the use of this type of cement must be done carefully and following specific requirements. Pouring concrete in these conditions requires temperature and timing control to prevent structural damage.

For jobs such as building construction or tile installation, especially when done after the main concrete has been placed, this type of cement is considered a secondary option after Type 1 or Type 2 cement.

Composite Portland Cement

Composite Portland cement, thanks to the combination of active mineral materials with base cement, offers better performance in the production of advanced concretes. Its most prominent features are listed below:

  • Improved properties: This cement reduces permeability and prevents water and moisture from entering the concrete.
  • Enhanced workability during application: The compounds in this cement make concrete pouring easier and improve the quality of the finished structure.
  • Higher final strength: Over time, concrete produced with this cement achieves greater compressive and flexural strength than regular concrete.
  • Better pumping and flow: Suitable for projects that require high concrete placement rates or where access is difficult.
  • Reduced water demand: Lower water usage helps decrease cracks caused by rapid evaporation and increases concrete durability.
  • Reduced efflorescence: Through controlled hydration and reduced ions, it prevents the formation of white spots on the concrete surface.
  • Greater bond between concrete and rebar: Stronger adhesion to reinforcement bars improves tensile strength and structural integrity.
  • Better retention in cement paste: This feature enhances chemical reactions and increases concrete strength.
  • Higher chemical resistance: Especially provides more resistance to sulfates found in marine environments or aggressive soils.

In 1973, studies to establish a cement factory in Kurdistan Province began. These studies were conducted to meet the industrial demands and economic development of the region.
  • 1977 to 1978 – Factory Site Selection and Completion of Company Studies on Cement

In these years, the Industrial and Mineral Development Bank, in cooperation with a British company, selected the Divandarreh region to build the cement factory and conducted complementary studies. Eventually, in 1981, the Industry and Mine Bank transitioned the project to Kurdistan Cement Company.
  • 1986 – Official Registration of Kurdistan Cement Company

In 1986, to advance this project, the Ministry of Industries founded Divandarreh Kurdistan Cement Company in partnership with Sepahan, Sofian, and Shomal Cement companies. This company was officially registered under No. 614140 on 17 September 1986.

  • 1987 – Share Transfer and Structural Changes

In 1987, 70% of the company's shares were transferred to Ehdas Sanaat Company. Following these changes, in 1989, the company’s name was changed to “Kurdistan Cement Company (Private Joint Stock).” Also, the project site was relocated from Divandarreh to Kilometer 5 of Takab Road in Bijar (the current factory location) and construction of the factory commenced.
  • 1992 to 1993 – Construction of Production Line with Foreign Technology

In early 1992, construction of the production line began, and with the import of foreign machinery worth about $42 million, this operation continued until 1993.

  • 1996 – Official Launch of Factory at a Capacity of 2,300

On 10 July 1996, Kurdistan Cement Factory officially started operations with a daily production of 2,300 tons of clinker.

  • 1999 – Converted to Public Joint Stock

In 1999, the Kurdistan Cement Company changed its type from a private joint stock company to a public joint stock company. Moreover, in 2003, the shares of Ehdas Sanaat Company were transferred to Ghadir Investment Company.

  • 2006 – Increase in Production Capacity

In 2006, with the launch of the capacity expansion project, Kurdistan Cement Factory was able to increase its production to 3,200 tons per day.

  • 2015 – Improvement of Cement Production

In 2015, with the operation of the multi-chamber silo and roller mill, the cement production capacity of this factory reached 6,000 tons per day.

Introducing Kurdistan Cement Company

Kurdistan Cement Company, the largest industrial unit in Kurdistan Province and a leading manager in western Iran, was established in 1996 for sustainable and economic development in the region. By using the latest technologies, the company has increased its nominal capacity to 6,000 tons of cement per day. Additionally, the production of custom-made cement using multi-chamber silo technology has distinguished this factory as a unique entity in the region.
