Safa Industrial Group refers to a conglomerate of major companies and factories, whose foundation was laid in 1968 by Mr. Mohammad Rostami Safa, the Chairman of the Board. With his 50 years of experience and management, it has grown into the largest industrial group in the Middle East.The first industrial and manufacturing company was Ostad Company, which began operations in 1976 with the aim of producing metal industries, agricultural tools, and industrial machinery. From 1979, the company focused on the production of steel structures, making significant contributions to the country's industries.In 1982, by investing in the Amol Industrial Group, the company entered the pipe and profile industry.In 1985, Mr. Mohammad Rostami Safa acquired a majority share in Saveh Rolling and Profile Company, which had a production capacity of 30,000 tons per year and employed 160 people. Today, this company has a production capacity of 2 million tons and employs 1,500 people, serving the country's construction projects and industries.In 2000, Safa Rolling and Pipe Factory was established in Saveh, becoming the largest producer of rolling and pipes in the oil, gas, petrochemical, petroleum product transportation, water, and wastewater industries in the Middle East, and a great source of pride for our country, Iran.
In 2002, Safa Metal Structures and Industrial Machinery Company was established with the aim of producing various steel structures, industrial machinery and devices, overhead and gantry cranes, telecommunication and radio-television towers, production machinery for pipe and profile rolling, and agricultural tools.In 2004, Safa Toos Rolling and Pipe Factory was constructed in Mashhad as part of the water pipeline project for the Doosti Dam, to cover the transportation costs of pipes to Khorasan province.In February 2009, Ahvaz Polymer Industry Company was established to produce polyolefin compounds, which are the raw materials for the coating of steel pipes, to meet the needs of the Safa Industrial Group's pipe manufacturing factories. The factory started operations with a capacity of 2,500 tons per year.In 2009, Safa Industrial Group ventured into a new industry by establishing Safa Ballpoint Pen Company, entering the stationery market. This company produces over 240 million ballpoint pens annually using the latest machinery and experienced personnel, and supplies them to domestic and foreign markets.
Safa Industrial Group comprises a collection of leading companies based in various provinces of the country, actively engaged in the production of steel profiles, metal structures, polymer industry, wire and cable, stationery, and food industries. The largest sector of this group focuses on producing various steel profiles for domestic markets and neighboring countries. These steel profiles are utilized for the transportation of petroleum products, water, and wastewater, in both light and heavy automotive industries, special HSS profiles for high-rise construction in the building industry, as well as hot-rolled steel products like I-beams, rebar, and other similar items.
The largest and oldest manufacturing complexes of this group, namely "Saveh Pipe and Profile Company" and "Safa Rolling and Pipe Company," are established next to each other in Markazi Province. The production capacity of these factories is 3 million tons per year, providing job opportunities for 2,000 people, producing various steel profiles ranging from 10 mm to 3000 mm in diameter using the latest production lines, with optimal quality and according to international standards for domestic and foreign markets.
Mohammad Rostami Safa was born in June 1947 in Tehran, into a family of merchants in the iron and steel industry. Following in his father’s footsteps and with relevant education, he transformed the family business from traditional trade into industrial production in the steel industry.
He always believes: "Between hard and harder, I choose the hardest."
He began his business activities focused and extensively on iron imports in 1968.
In 1976, he invested in the Amol Industrial Group, starting operations in the pipe and profile industry, and in 1978, driven by national pride and a belief in Iran’s self-sufficiency, he entered the production field by manufacturing machinery and tools at Ostad Industrial Company.
In 1985, he became a shareholder and CEO of Saveh Rolling and Profile Company. At that time, the company had a production capacity of 30,000 tons and employed 160 people. Today, Saveh Rolling and Profile Company has a production capacity of 2 million tons and employs 1,500 people.
Subsequently, in line with the country’s 20-year vision and infrastructure development program, he established the Safa Rolling and Pipe Factory in Saveh in 2000. This factory is now the largest and most modern rolling and pipe manufacturer in the oil, gas, petrochemical, petroleum product transportation, water, and wastewater industries in the Middle East, and is considered a great honor for our country, Iran.
In 2004, in line with the Sarakhs-Mashhad project, he established Safa Toos Rolling and Pipe Factory in Mashhad, where after the project's completion and based on the existing development needs in Khorasan Province, a hot rolling production line was launched, starting the production of wide-flange beams.
Between 2006 and 2008, with a focus on national production and supplying the necessary raw materials for the aforementioned factories, he initiated the establishment of companies such as "Safa Metal Structures and Industrial Machinery Company" and "Ahvaz Polymer Industry Company." Additionally, between 1999 and 2001, he invested in companies like "Ahvaz Wire and Cable" and "Hamiran Food Industries." In 2009, he also ventured into the stationery industry by establishing "Safa Ballpoint Pen Factory," the first stationery factory in Iran.
Mohammad Rostami Safa is an industrial mentor, constantly working to form industrial teams and units. His greatest joys are the realization of ideas and the operation of new pipe lines. He believes that wealth is a trust given to him by God, and he seeks to return this trust by developing industrial units, building schools and hospitals, assisting eligible individuals, and freeing prisoners.
He believes: "Never express problems; instead, manage them. Management is the art of overcoming challenges."
Based on the outlined policy and strategy, this industrial group is constantly moving towards increasing the diversity and enhancing the quality of its products, with a vision to expand its production activities and increase its product portfolio. In the near future, it aims to meet a significant portion of the stationery needs of society and prevent foreign currency outflow and imports of foreign products. In this context, Safa Ballpoint Pen Company has planned its upcoming projects, including the production of highlighter markers, rollerball pens, and correction fluid.
Currently, Safa Ballpoint Pen Manufacturing Company is equipped with the latest machinery and experienced personnel and quality control laboratories , having obtained the National Standard Mark of Iran and quality management system certifications ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2015. It is ready to produce over 200 million ballpoint pens, 20 million markers, and 100 million pencils annually with excellent quality.
Currently, this company is the largest producer of stationery with an Iranian brand, supplying Kian and Sofi ballpoints, as well as various markers and pencils under the Kian brand, making it a serious competitor to imported products with well-known brands.
