Al-Aswar Trading Group

Al-Aswar Trading Group Co. was established in 1986 with its main office located in Baghdad, Iraq. Throughout Iraq’s turbulent years from 1986 to 2023, Al-Aswar Trading Group Co. has consistently achieved profitability and maintained its status as a leading importer, distributor, and installer of various types of electronics.

The company owns 9 showrooms in Baghdad, a four-floor building, and 3 large modern warehouse facilities that make up a total of 3,700 square meters. One showroom in Dubai and an office along with a 2,940 cubic meter warehouse also facilitate Aswar’s business in the region. In China, two warehouses and two offices serve as procurement and logistics centers. However, the company’s true assets are its 110 young and energetic employees, 80 in Iraq, 10 in Dubai, and 20 in China, of whom 60% are engineers.

To become the leading ELV contractor that is vertically integrated providing local expertise and support to multinationals operating in Iraq in the oil and security sectors. And to offer the highest standard of logistical support, ready-stock goods, and customized products for the Iraqi market.

History

1986 – Al Faranis workshop was set up initially as a repair center for VCR and TV systems
1991 – Al Bahrain Company is incorporated and starts dealing in electronic components and equipment
1994 – Al Bahrain Co. wins contracts with the Iraqi state-owned EIC and supplies TV components
1995 – Al Bahrain Co. starts dealing in SMATV and PABX systems
2001 – Aswar Aldirah Electronics Trading LLC is set up in Dubai, UAE
2003 – Al Bahrain Co. becomes one of the first Iraqi companies to deal in CCTV security cameras after it was made legal to do so by private companies in Iraq
2004 – Al Bahrain Co. becomes Al-Aswar Trading Group Co. for General Trading and Commercial Agencies
2005 – Aswar Aldirah Electronics Trading LLC – Guangzhou Branch is set up in China
2006 to 2015 – Al-Aswar Trading Group starts dealing in public address systems, power solutions, electronic tools, and mobile phone spare parts
2016 – Euler Electronics Trading LLC is set up in Dubai, UAE
2017 – Spark Electronics Limited is set up in Hong Kong

Corporate Social Responsibility

In addition to annual donations to various local charities in Iraq, the company has set up a training center that teaches newly graduated electrical engineers on installation, commissioning, and testing of CCTV security and network systems. Every week a batch of engineers learn about the industry and become more qualified to start their small businesses or work as technicians in the field.

Most new hires in Al-Aswar Trading Group are electrical engineers and recent graduates. This ensures a supply of fresh ideas in the company as well as providing a stepping stone for those without work experience.
